oh dear! it's been a while since i was here! I have had a busy autumn, though, passing my grade 8 piano exam, being bridesmaid for my friends wedding, making a dress, snake draught excluder, soldier decorations, toy telephone, folksy sales and getting a job in an art shop!
Im finnishing an apron at the moment, its big, maybe ill stick to childrens aprons in the future.
i wont leave it so long again, will post some photos up soon.

Saturday 27 September 2008

Hello again, I have had a productive few weeks, i made 2 children's aprons, a deer bag and learned to crochet (with a little help from my mum). I have been distracted from the sewing as i went home to wales for the harvest festival. I feel all wrong if i dont go at this time of year and love to play 'we plough the fields and scatter' on the piano. Heres a pic of a deer apron.

Folksy and soup

Being domesticated is so tiring. I made spicy vegetable soup this evening. It was worth it, though. Its really satisfying making a good soup as the nights are drawing in.
I've been trying to make a deer toy but it's head won't stand up straight. Ill just have to keep stuffing.
I have a site on folksy now, i know i keep opening all these shops! but it will be nice t0 have a british shop and not have to work out the exchange rate.

It's http://folksy.com/shops/needlesandbuttons

Also check out this blog. It shows some really nice stuff from folksy

Here is an owl plastic bag container i have been making. I love his retro style. My sewing machine is working well now.

I've been making onion patches today!

When i was little my mum would sew a smiley faced onion patch on my jeans when i had a hole in the knee. I think there were a whole range of vegetables but the onions were the best. Now every time i see a hole developing on a knee i say 'you want an onion on that!' and usually get a confused look.

So now i've created my own! It was really fun. Maybe ill start an onion revival.

red bird purse

I made this purse recently, i love the rich colours. However hard i try, i can't stop sewing birds.
Here's an insight into what i do when im not sewing. I live in a community where people are very creative and flexible and you never know quite what might happen in a day. Here's what happened last tuesday. ps. I am the robot!

Monday 1 September 2008

I got a box of material from a friend today. some good patterns. I am amazed anyone can throw material out. I suppose its being the product of a seamstress and hoarder. you never know when you might need it!
I now have a shop on dawanda too at http://en.dawanda.com/shop/needlesandbuttons
it's all very exciting but im off to my piano lesson now. My new sewing machine lead has not arrived yet so sewing has stopped momentarily.

Sunday 31 August 2008

i have a shop on etsy, www.annapurver.etsy.com. Feel free to have a look.
Its been a nice day, i cooked a sunday roast for friends, which, aside from the two plasters on my fingers, was a success.

i must go to sleep now as the radio 4 bells are chiming for midnight! otherwise it will be the shipping news before i know it

I made this octupus for my friend nina when she was born. It has been much loved and dragged around since. He's got some hippy tentacles!

Here's a bag i made last week. Im really into deer at the moment, they are tricky to cut out but worth it in the end for that lovely retro look.

hi i've started this blog to show people what i make as i have such fun sewing! i've stopped for a moment as my sewing machine lead has been melting! and producing a strange burning smell but this does give me time to show you some photos.
